Who is this course suitable for?
This Apprenticeship acts as an entry and progression route for new staff in the sector, as well as giving existing staff the opportunity to up-skill. Apprentices will train in a range of settings of different sizes and undertake a range of duties including servicing customers, preparing and cooking food, serving drinks, working on reception, cleaning and preparing rooms.
What is required to join this course?
This qualification is designed for learners aged 16 and above. This qualification is a competency based qualification and chosen units need to be linked to their job role. There are no specific recommended prior learning requirements for this qualification. However, learners may find it helpful if they’ve already achieved a Level 1 qualification. Learners should also have literacy and numeracy skills.

This qualification is aimed at those working in, or who wish to enter, the hospitality industry. It must be assessed in the workplace or in a realistic working environment to allow leaners to gain hands-on experience as they train. It allows flexibility in choice for the learner to take units from different pathways. This qualification is designed for learners employed, or who aspire to be employed, in hospitality roles, for example: hospitality services assistant - working in a range of settings of different sizes where employers expect staff to undertake a range of duties. This qualification has been developed in association with People 1st, the Sector Skills Council for Hospitality, Leisure, Travel and Tourism and is based on the National Occupational Standards for the industry. This qualification may also form part of the Intermediate Level Apprenticeship in Hospitality. How will this course be taught?
This is a work based qualification. Learners will be visited in their workplace by an Assessor, who will assess them using observation, discussion, product evidence, assignments and witness statements. Assessors will require access to carry out observation of the learner in the workplace demonstrating their skills, attributes and competencies. This will be necessary and will be used to assess your competence in your job.
